When a loved one is sick, it affects the entire family.
Along with anxiety and sadness, family members may feel helpless and frustrated.
The Critical Care team understands these emotions and is here to
help patients and their
families.
|
| Family members are
important to the caring process... Unlike most regular hospital rooms,
critical care units are equipped with many special devices that monitor patients
and perform highly complex treatments. They are staffed by highly trained
professionals, who provide around-the-clock care for patients and their loved
ones.
Family and friends of patients admitted to
the Critical Care Unit play an important role. Support and encouragement
can help in the healing process. If the patient is too ill to make
decisions, a family member may be asked to speak on behalf of the
person. The information and feedback provided will help the critical care
team decide which treatments are best.
